For the last three years we have provided first aid courses for year six in the Reedham, Freethorpe & Cantley School run by St. Johns Ambulance.
This has been a tredmedous success. We are able to continue to run these courses thanks to the ongoing fundraising of our community.

On Saturday 6th February 2010 we trained six local people Sarah, Alec, Brian, Nataylia, Threase and Marcus in the use of the new defibrillator at Freethorpe sports pavillion. A big thank you also to Andy Barlow, Barry Bradum and Helen Utting who helped train them.
DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING
Posted at 18/01/10 - 03:10 PM
We have just had our new Defibrillator fitted at the New Community Pavilion courtesy of the Freethorpe First responders. This device is a life saver and is used to restart the heart of a cardiac arrest sufferer.
In the next few weeks we will have a free 4 hour course (8am till 12 midday) on how to use it if needed when you are at the playing field. There are no other duties or commitments that you have to undertake on completion of the course. You will need to be assessed once every six months only.
We are looking for volunteers from sporting clubs and community groups that use the Pavilion and the village hall, so that if an emergency occurs when your group is at the venue a life could be saved. Other community volunteers would also be welcome to attend.
If you are willing and able to attend the course please contact chris homes 01493 701482 or Stephen Smith on 01493 700909, 07863 361323 or email stephen.smith42@sky.com with your name and contact details or to freethorpe@respondersuk.org

Halvergate Ladies Donation
Posted at 05/08/09 - 04:34 PM
Due to lack of members unfortunately the Halvergate Ladies Group club have decided to close the Group, They have however decided to donate all their remaining money to the Freethorpe First Responder Group which totals over £97
The treasurer of the group Mrs Willimott quoted in her letter to the group "You are doing a great job for the community"
Indeed it was thanks to the ladies of Halvergate club and in particular Margaret Woodgate that they had a fund raising day and made over £4,500.
With this money we purchased 4 defibrillators and equipment for Reedham, Cantley, Halvergate, and a spare equipment bag for day time use.
Freethorpe first responders rely on donations from the public so we warmly accept this kind donation and would like to thank everyone at the group, you can be assured we will put it to good use.
Thank you Billy and Jean George

I would personally like to thank Billy and Jean for all their fund Raising they have done for our responder group.
They have recently Donated £300 but in total since 2005 they have raised £3388.62p which is a staggering amount.
We wouldn’t be in the position we our now in if it Wasn’t for them.
The money they have raised has contributed to the 5 Defibrillators and kit bags we have.
We also pay St .Johns to run first Aid courses in Cantley Reedham and Freethorpe schools as well as the local Cubs and Brownie groups.
I cannot thank them enough for their fantastic support for our group.
